Recording camera surveillance
Taksi Helsinki Oy, 0838031-9, (”Taksi Helsinki”, ”we” or ”us”) shall act as controller with regard to personal data processing that takes place via security cameras installed in Taksi Helsinki’s taxi cars.
It is important to us that you feel safe with regard to how we process your personal data. We will undertake all necessary measures to protect your personal data and in order for your personal data to be processed in accordance with applicable data protection legislation and our internal practices.
Security cameras that automatically takes and records pictures and visual footage of you when you travel in the taxi or act as a taxi driver are installed on the ceilings of taxis which belong to Taksi Helsinki’s dispatch system. The recordings may contain your personal data if it is possible to identify you from the footage. Our security cameras do not collect or otherwise process audio recordings, only visual material.
The security camera installed on the ceiling of the taxi will record footage of the inside of the taxi for the duration of your journey. The image recording will be saved locally on the security camera’s memory card. The security camera is not connected to a data network or to any other device.
The image material on the memory card will not be downloaded or otherwise examined except to investigate accidents or situations involving a threat to safety, of which the most common example is a police request to study the recordings in order to investigate a suspected crime or traffic accident.
We will not process the recorded material collected via the security camera for any purpose besides the following specific and legal purposes:
To ensure safety and to protect property
The purpose of processing the footage recorded via the taxi security cameras is primarily to ensure the safety of the driver and passengers and to protect property. The security camera is used to help prevent violence against drivers and passengers, as well as vandalism or other property offences. In addition, the security camera helps to safeguard drivers’ peaceful working conditions and to therefore maintain traffic safety. No processing procedures besides the automatic recording and deletion of footage takes place on the recordings when processing for this purpose.

Purposes of legitimate interest. Personal data processing is necessary in order for us to fulfil the purposes of legitimate interest relating to implementing the drivers’ and passengers’ personal safety and protecting property, as well as preventing situations which threaten them. Such purposes of legitimate interest also include safeguarding drivers’ peaceful working conditions and traffic safety.
Storage period. We will store recordings collected for this purpose on the security camera memory card for approx. 2 days, after which time they will be automatically destroyed.
Investigating accidents or situations involving a threat to safety
We can process your personal data if we need to investigate accidents or other situations involving a threat to safety. Such personal data processing may occur in situations wherein an offence is committed in the taxi involving the driver’s or passenger’s property. Only an employee appointed by Taksi Helsinki has the right to download or examine the recordings for processing for this purpose.
If we receive a police request to hand over the recording for investigation of a suspected crime, we may then be obligated to disclose the recording to the police. The basis for disclosing such personal data is Taksi Helsinki’s compliance with its legal obligations.

Purposes of legitimate interest. Personal data processing is necessary in order for us to fulfil the purposes of legitimate interest relating to drivers’ or passengers’ accidents and any situations involving a threat to safety.
Statutory obligation. Upon request by the police, we will share the recordings with the police if this is necessary in order for us to comply with our legal obligations.
Storage period. We will only store personal data that is processed for this purpose for as long as is necessary in order to investigate the accident or situation involving a threat to safety, or until our legal obligation is fulfilled. After this time, the recordings that were processed for this purpose will be destroyed.
We can share your personal data with the following recipients:
We use a service provider when processing personal data in order to investigate accidents or situations involving a threat to safety. The service provider is TH-Autolaite Oy, which processes personal data on our behalf, and we are responsible for its operations when processing personal data. The task of the service provider is to remove the memory card from the security camera and to safely deliver it to the employee appointed by Taksi Helsinki. The service provider does not have the right to download or examine the recordings on the memory card.
We are the controller for personal data processing carried out by a service provider on our behalf.
If necessary, we will share your personal data with other recipients who themselves act as controllers when processing your personal data.
Courts, opposing parties, etc.
We can share your personal data with courts, opposing parties, etc. if it is necessary for our defence against any legal claims presented against us.
Purposes of legitimate interest. Processing is necessary in order to fulfil our purposes of legitimate interest with regard to our defence against legal claims.
Law enforcement authorities, e.g. the police
If necessary, we will share your personal data with authorities if we are legally obligated to do so.
Statutory obligation. Processing is necessary in order to comply with our statutory obligations.
We only process personal data in Finland and the European Union area. We do not transfer or disclose your personal data to third countries outside of the European Union area.
In accordance with data protection legislation, you have certain rights with regard to the processing of your personal data. Access your personal data
You have the right to access your personal data that we process. We will provide you with this data unless we have a legal reason to refrain from disclosing the data, or if disclosing the data would have a detrimental effect on the rights and freedoms of third parties.
Update your personal data
You have the right to request the rectification or completion of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
Object to the processing of personal data
You have the right to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation to the processing of your personal data, which is processed on the purposes of legitimate interest. In such cases, we will stop using your personal data on the purposes of our legitimate interest unless we demonstrate compelling legitimate purposes for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
Erase your personal data
In certain cases, you have the right to request the erasure of your personal data. However, we are unable to erase your personal data if e.g. the law obligates us to store the data, or if we require your data for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
Restrict the processing of your personal data
In certain situations, you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data. If the processing of your personal data is restricted, such personal data shall, with the exception of storage, only be processed with your consent or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims or for the protection of the rights of a third party.
